9 Elements On My Home Decor Vision Board

Post in partnership with Summer House 24

As the self-proclaimed queen of manifesting, I decided to combine my love of the law of attraction and interior design today by sharing the nine design elements I’m adding to my future dream home decor vision board.

Here’s a pre-warning, it reads like an Instagram List of Cliché Moments – but a girl likes what she likes, right? Also, some of these design elements would be ideal if I lived in California or Bondi Beach, but in Leeds they may feel a little out of place. Unless, that is, I can manifest all-year-round sunshine.

I’ve love to know in the comments below what you’d add to your dream home decor vision board – especially if we’ve got the same ‘hopeful’ taste. As I always say with manifestation, it’s only a matter of time.

1. White Open Spaces

It’s pretty clear if you’re a regular reader of Apartment Number 4 that I adore white, clean spaces with natural elements thrown in. Three Birds Renovations, Studio McGee and Laura Butler Madden are all leaders in white space decorating, and the second I moved into my magnolia flat I was in search of the perfect warm, but not too warm, shade of white.

2. An Outside Office

As I work and live in the same place, my dream for my future house is to have an outside office space to work in – one, to have a change of scenery and two, so I can still maintain a less than one-minute commute.

When I started the search for this post to find the perfect outside office, I discovered Summer House 24, who specialise in garden rooms, log cabins, garden offices and other external structures. I’m pretty sure you’ll agree how gorgeous this large garden room with double glazed windows and high ceilings.

I can envision this contemporary ‘shed’ with a rattan hanging chair, large potted plants, layered rugs, desk and beach inspired artwork hanging from the walls. Although it’s totally possible to paint this weatherproof outbuilding, I think I’d have to keep the natural wood for a Bondi Beach coastal feel.

3. Pantry

Somewhere to line glass jar after glass jar filled with ingredients? Now you’re speaking my language. To have a real-life pantry is the dream, and I can only imagine the fun I’d have with a sharpie, baking bits, Tupperware, and open shelving. It sounds like a complete party right? It does to me!

4. Laundry Room

Alongside the pantry has to be a laundry room where I can hide away the washing machine and dryer and iron in peace while I watch Netflix. I say iron in peace because I fully imagine the house full of children, pets, husband, shouting, laughter and music. The laundry room still needs to be as stylish as the rest of the house, however, and this space from Studio McGee’s Windsong project makes organisation look effortless.

5. Chevron Flooring

Although I adore coastal style interiors, there’s something about Parisian inspired chevron flooring that gets me every time. Despite it being very much a trend at the moment, this style of floor is timeless when you choose the right wood. For the white, bright space I envision, I’d use a light ash toned oak, similar to this living room design by Woodpecker Flooring.

6. Outdoor Pool & Seating Area

Heading back outside, to the other side of my obviously huge garden I plan on having a heated pool and outdoor seating area, perfect for entertaining friends and family. And yes, again, I’m completely relying on British summertime being an actual thing. You just have to look at this gorgeous space from Instagram influencer, Debbie H, to see how amazing an outdoor pool can look here in the UK.

7. Statement Lighting

Although a relatively easy thing to add to the mix, living in a rental where I’m unable to change the light fixtures, having the ability (and ceiling height) to add dramatic statement lighting is something I can’t wait for. The dream is to have enough space to install an oversized wooden chandelier as spotted in this Three Birds Renovations project on Lana’s House. It’s absolutely stunning right?

8. A Working Fire

Radiators are not my thing. Even super stylish ones. I crave a real working fire, built into a large stone surround with tiles surrounding it. There’s something so cosy about sitting around the fire, and watching a film – especially around Christmas time. You just don’t get the same effect sitting around my old yellow-tinged radiator.

9. Pink Tiled Bathroom

Despite the vision of living with a real-life man and children, I still plan on having a whole load of pink in my future house – including a pink tiled bathroom. Pink herringbone tiles with white grouting to be exact. Along with a white standalone bath, brass fixtures and the fluffiest white towels known to man. I’m thinking this might have to be the master bathroom as opposed to a family bathroom but I’m sure the universe could make this happen.

So there you have it. The nine dream design elements I’ve added to my future home decor vision board. Again, let me know in the comments below what you’d add to yours.
